Storing zinnia seeds over winter #855744

Asked November 26, 2023, 9:15 AM EST

I have gathered zinnia seeds from our plants. Where is the best place to store them over the winter to have best results of reblooming in the Spring?

Expert Response

Good evening Judy,

Thank you for your question! Make sure to store your dry seeds in a paper envelope or paper bag as plastic can trap moisture. If the seeds mold, they are very likely dead. Store your seed packs at room temperature with air circulating. Label the envelopes so you know what you have.

If they're hybrid zinnias, their offspring may not come true to seed but it's worth trying.

I’ve included some links about storing zinnia seeds. I hope they help.
