Cloudy Honey #844624

Asked August 07, 2023, 6:26 PM EDT

I just extracted my first honey and it is very cloudy. After it sits...the bottom sorta clears but there is a cream foam on top. Is it safe for human consumption? If you received this same question from me, I apologise. I sent from my phone but didn't know if it got thru.. I had sent a picture with it also.

Hi Loraine,

Thanks for reaching out with this question. Feel free to respond with photos of your honey.

My first guess is that the foam is just extra air that is in your honey. Sometimes air gets into honey and creates foam during the spinning/extraction process, when honey passes through a strainer, or when honey drops into a bucket/jar. If the foam is just air bubbles it should be fine, but you could skim it off the top with a spoon if you want.

Happy beekeeping!
