good morning, i have 2-ash trees in the front yard that have the ash borer taking over. I have gotten several quotes to remove them but at this time the price is way out of my budget. I have a 3-rd ash tree about 30ft away not affected yet i dont think. Is there anything i can do to protect that tree from infection? I am in Eagan MN and all the trees appear to be the same age approx 16-18" diameter. I been living here a year and a few months since i purchased in 2022. I think the trees must be about 38 yrs old. That is when the home was built and these are all in the front yard. Thank you for any advice you can offer on affordable removal and saving the other ash tree.

Expert Response
Contact a company that injects ash trees with a chemical that will keep them alive. Usually it will keep them alive for 10-15 years. The cost is between about 225-325.00 per year for each tree.
Many companies provide the treatment and it helps to talk to at least 3 about cost.
Sorry for the infected ash trees, it is a terrible disease.

Thanks for your prompt response and information. Unfortunately the treatment cost at this time is not in our budget. We will have to wait until they eventually die and fall then be able to dispose of them ourselves. Thank you. Bill

EAB is devastating. I am not convinced treatment makes sense unless the tree has a key role in a landscape.
