Coffee in the garden? #797349

Asked June 22, 2022, 8:05 PM EDT

Can I use up outdated coffee in the garden? Will it help hydrangeas be blue? Will acid loving plants like it? Will it be harmful? Thanks, Dawn Tallman Warren Ohio

Expert Response

Hi Dawn
Thank you for your gardening question. Coffee grounds can be great in the garden or added to the compost bins. I haven't found any information about using outdated coffee. Here are several articles for you to read. Research shows coffee really doesn't affect acidity on soil. https://extension.arizona.edu/using-coffee-grounds-garden
