Spider or tick? #794811

Asked June 07, 2022, 8:08 PM EDT

I'm used to little spiders between my windows and screens, but this one is creepier and I am hoping it is not a tick.

Expert Response

Thanks for your question. Ticks are a kind of arachnid, so like spiders they have eight legs. However, the arachnid in your photo has a large head relative to its body, and rather than a smoothly rounded body it has a knobby protuberance at its tail end. These characteristics make me think it is not a tick.
