https://soiltesting.tamu.edu/ has information on collecting and submitting soil samples to the Texas A&M Laboratory. They recommend putting the samples into a quart-sized re-sealable heavy gauge plastic bag.
The Urban and Homeowner Soil Sample form is attached. Others can be accessed, as needed, from the links at the bottom of the web page above.
