Bolted Basil Propagation #762334

Asked July 17, 2021, 10:34 PM EDT

Hello! While I was on a trip, my cinnamon basil plant began blossoming. I cut them all off because I'll be using the leaves for cooking. Is there a way to propagate the bolted cuttings? Thank you! Also, I love in Mount Shasta, CA. My county wasn't an option on the drop down menu

Basil can easily be propagated in water. Just pop it in a glass of water and it will root within a few days to a week and you can pot it up.

You can also just prune the flowers off and your basil will keep growing - some folks notice a flavor change after it begins flowering, but most aren't that sensitive to the minor change.
