As far as where you can obtain mulch, you will have to ask your gardening friends, visit garden centers, do an internet search, or contact the OSU Tulsa County Extension Office, they will know what local resources are available.
There are many types of mulch you can use in the landscape and while there are some slight differences between them, it usually comes down to your preference and your budget as to which one you use. Mulches can be divided into two major groups, organic and inorganic.
Organic mulches include things like bark, wood chips, pine needles, pecan shells, and leaves. These break down over time and will need to be replenished once in a while. The benefit of using organic mulch is as it breaks down it also improves soil conditions.
Inorganic mulch includes rock, gravel, landscape fabric, plastic and other materials most of which do not decompose.
Organic mulch is generally preferred in the landscape because it looks more natural in addition to improving soil over time. The inorganic types have their place in the landscape.
