Mini or Micro Clover in AK #732094

Asked October 25, 2020, 4:34 PM EDT

Is Mini or Micro Clover an invasive species for Alaska? I live in the Kenai Peninsula, Seward area, and am thinking of planting this among existing lawn grass next spring.

Good Afternoon,

There are two main micro clover varieties.  These are actually just smaller versions of white clover, which are not invasive.  Their hardiness zone goes to a low of 3....  It will depend on the microclimate for your location whether not they will be successful.  You can seed them in and they will do OK the first season, but the real test will be winter survival.  You could try adding it, but it might die out the first cold winter it encounters.  Here is the USDA hardiness map, you may want to browse your location to get a feel for your hardiness zone - https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/PHZMWeb/InteractiveMap.aspx

I hope this helps.
