Hello! I am planning to make bird feeders out of pine cones. I have just realized that the pine cones are scented pine cones. I have had them a while and had forgotten. Is it harmful to the birds or other wildlife potentially to use the artificially scented pine cones? The scent is cinnamon.

Hi Stephanie,
I would not recommend using the scented pine cones as there may be other chemicals used that may be harmful to the birds. I don't know if the cinnamon would both them (I doubt it), but it's the other chemicals I'm cautious about. An alternative might be to make your own suet (bird seed and suet or lard) or use apple slices (or the core of an apple) in place of the pine cones.
