If sufficient amounts of this plant are eaten by dogs, it could cause significant reactions and in the extreme even death. It can also have toxic effects upon humans. This should not necessary preclude it being grown in a garden. This will be your decision. Its flowers do not last too long but they are beautiful. Just to keep things in perspective, gardeners grow many plants that also can be toxic. For example:
