I am growing some purple sweet potato slips inside and seek guidance on how to plant these outside. I presume they have to await a frost free date, no? Will they do okay in a large container, one per plant? Or better in the ground? I have rabbits and voles so generally like to grow my seedlings in Earth Boxes and other containers.
I understand there is a video clip on the subject of growing sweet potatoes by Jon Traufield but I have not located it on the MC website. Can you direct me to this?

You don't really want to plant sweet potatoes outdoors until the soil is warm- mid to late May.

We would not recommend using an Earth Box but we have clients who have successfully grown sweet potato in laundry baskets (line the inside with newspaper) or 15-20 gallon fabric grow bags or nursery containers.
