Dispite all efforts, aphids killed my indoor gardenia. Can I eventually plant in the soil after the dead plant is removed? If so, how long should I leave it before replanting?
Thanks!

Assuming that you are really experiencing plant injury from aphids and not some other small soft bodied sucking insect (such as thrips, or whiteflies), then the problem is not soil borne. Thus, the soil should be able to be recycled. You can control sucking insects like aphids by applying imidacloprid granules to the soil, following very carefully the product label directions. Most hardware type stores sell the formulations that will take care of aphids.
