King Mayberry tree without glyphosate. #580121

Asked July 15, 2019, 5:29 AM EDT

I have invasive mulberry trees in my yard. They have been cut down, but are already regrowing. How can I eliminate them without herbicides?

Hello,

A tree  stump’s roots have a lot of reserve food. To use up the food, keep the sprouts mowed down. How long they continue to come up depends on how much energy is left in the roots- it could take 2-3 seasons.

Digging or grinding as much of the stump and big roots as possible will prevent some suckers from growing.

I don’t know if the “buckthorn baggie” technique will work on mulberry but you may try it.  https://news.wisc.edu/buckthorn-baggie-kills-invasive-trees-without-chemicals/
