Are they a good addition to other compost or a bad idea? I know many places like Starbucks or Einsteins will give customers free coffee grounds for their gardens, but I have also heard they are bad for that in general. What do you say on adding them with other compost?

They need to compost before the plants can utilize their nutrients. I would recommend against digging them directly into the garden but they could be a good addition to a compost pile (ditto for egg shells and other kitchen scraps).
