Loganberry #557414

Asked May 01, 2019, 1:06 PM EDT

Hello, Does the Loganberry plant like acidic soil? I wanted to know if I could plant some Blueberries near it. Thank You Melissa

Expert Response

Hey Melissa,  Loganberries like a pH between 5.8 to 6.5; whereas, blueberries like a pH between 4.5 and 5.5. These are optimal pH values. You may be able to stretch these values a little but the plants won't do as well. Loganberries on the low end and blueberries on the high end may work. A soil test would really let you know where you stand https://homesoiltest.msu.edu/.
I hope this helps,

Ok. So I was going to trellis one loganberry plant. Near two pine trees (not sure what kind they are) then about 2 to 3 ft in front of each post I was going to plant the blueberry plants. So that still may be to close for the plants to perform well?

As long as they do not shade each other you should be okay.
