What beehive destroyed in 1960 #485347

Asked September 17, 2018, 12:49 PM EDT

My dad burned down a beehive at behest of my Mundy township in1960. Were mites an issue? Testing available in area? Pesticides? Wonder if you have expert in bee history 1950-65? Thank you

Mites weren't an issue in the United States at that time, but many hives had to be burned because of American Foulbrood. It was a reportable disease in that era, and required that infected hives were burned.
