Lots of info out there about mixing used coffee grounds into the soil for the veg garden (non-composted). Other articles say it will make the soil too acidic. I know it depends on the original composition of the soil, but is there a good overall rue of thumb?

Coffee grounds can be great for your garden but they are most helpful as a part of compost. Since you are not composting, be sure to fully incorporate the grounds into the soil and don't over do it. Studies have shown that fresh grounds can adversely affect plant growth whereas fully composted grounds are more likely to provide some benefits. In compost percentages of 10 to 20 percent of total compost volume have been reported as optimal for compost quality and effectiveness, while over 30 percent can be detrimental.
