Power Washing a house using bleach? #315323
Asked April 21, 2016, 5:37 PM EDT
We are getting estimates on having our home power washed and it came up that regular bleach is used to do the cleaning. I expect this will run off into my yard where I have many and varied gardens. Will this be harmful to the plants around the base of the house, or to the soil? Thank you kindly.

Chlorine bleach can be harmful to landscape plants. Wetting the foliage first will help dilute the bleach solution. Do not allow the solution to dry on the plants ,wash it off immediately. It is best to cover your plants with a plastic sheeting material and then rinse off the solution. Caution, if the plants are in the sun, the sheeting can magnify the sun's rays and burn the leaves plants.
