This is a curry leaf plan... #248939

Asked June 01, 2015, 10:16 PM EDT

This is a curry leaf plant. I fertilize it every 2 weeks with a fish emulsion fertilizer & iron supplement for plants. What am I missing? Why is there chlorosis?

Expert Response

The curry leaf plant (Murraya Koenigii) likes slightly acidic soil, and temperatures over 50 degrees F.   It has a tendency to become iron deficient so or so it would be a better idea to fertilize with a fertilizer for acid-loving plants. You can use a liquid soluble fertilizer from spring until early fall. Check the product label before using and follow the label instructions. Water with lukewarm rainwater or distilled water. Your tap water may be basic.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I checked the soil with a home pH monitor (probably not very accurate I know) & it was close to 8! What to you recommend to acidify the soil? Sulfur? I'm using iron regularly, and that's obviously not working....

You might try re potting the plant in a peat based potting soil. Spray the plant with chelated iron. Chelated iron is iron that has been combined with a type of sugar. The sugar helps the plant absorb iron.
