Proper Disposal of Bamboo Roots #197599

Asked July 08, 2014, 12:41 PM EDT

We are attempting to erradicate bamboo in the back yard of a property we own. The bamboo shoots have been cut off and disposed of. The roots have been dug up, and now we need to know how to properly dispose of them.

It depends on your local laws but if at all possible BURN THEM! If not possible, put them in the trash so they'll be taken to a landfill (where they may cause mischief even if they appear dead).
If you have a good imagination you could write a play or short story about the bamboo roots that refused to die. Call it something like "Zombie Bamboo" or "Zomboo" as this stuff has an amazing ability to regenerate from even a scrap of root.
In future you can research clumping bamboo, which is not invasive, and can make an effective screen or "living fence"
