This pine cone was collected about 20 years ago in the Sierras in California.
It measures 8" tall by 7" wide. The "thorns" on the cones point upwards and can be quite painful when you hold the pine cone. The bottom of the pine cone is flat.
Can you tell me what tree produced this pine cone?

Looks like Digger Pine, Pinus sabiniana.
