I bought some Blazing star in pots and planted them. I noticed the corms are all on top of the soil in the pot. So, I planted them that way. However, my understanding is that usually the corms should be planted several inches or more underground. In the fall when the foliage dies, should I pull the corms apart and plant them more deeply?

Blazing Star or Liatris corms should be planted 1-2 inches deep and 6-8 inches apart. As with all bulbs, make sure the growing tips are right side up. it would be a good idea to replant them after the foliage dies and then plant them at 1 to 2 inches deep. It would be a be a good idea to mulch the bed of bulbs after the ground has frozen too.
