planting grapevines near a fence #126604

We would like to plant 3-4 grape plants along a privacy fence in our backyard. The soil drains well and the plants will receive full sun for at least 8 hours a day. Our question deals with the distance between the plants and the fence pickets. How far should we plant the grapes (and the corresponding support trellis) away from the fence itself? Is there a minimum distance between the plants and the fence pickets?

Expert Response
It is recommended to plant grapes at least 10 inches from a wall or fence. Here is more information in case you need it.
