Hi, I went out to my garden and found black ants chewing on the tomato stem, about 1 inch up from the dirt. These are brand new plants from Bachman’s. They have no sign of aphids and they are replacement plants for the tomatoes the ants already killed (same method). I’m guessing they are carpenter ants. Any bait did nothing. I just sprinkled Diamoetous earth down and sprayed for aphids tonight just in case. This time they only “ate” the bottom of my super sweet 100. They clearly have a large ant colony right in this raised vegetable bed. Any ideas on how to get rid of them for good without poisoning my tomatoes? Hose didn’t work. Perhaps boiling water? Any help is appreciated!
