We want to leave the leaves this winter, but pine needles are very difficult to mulch. What will happen to the grass if we leave them? What's the best way to use them?

Add the title suggests, I used a good portion (probably like 3 or 4 pounds) of charcoal briquettes in my compost pile. I figured the carbon would be highly beneficial, but after some research online that may not be the case. 8 can't find any information online about the additives in the charcoal, but it wasn't "self-lighting" at the very least. Should I scrap my compost pile and start over (it's honestly only a few days old) or should i just continue you care for it and hope for the best? Also, any and all advice about composting would be appreciated. I basically just have a pile of stuff in my yard surrounded by some bricks, and it isn't very big so I'm not sure how well it may work.

We have a stressed white pine in our front yard on the shore of lake superior (see attached pictures). Planted as a seedling 15 to 20 years ago in gravely soil. I did just remove thimbleberry bushes around the base. What else can we do? Fertilize and water? what kind of fertilizer?

The white pine tree in our backyard needs help. Needles are drooping, some turning brown. I tried spikes of fertilizer in the spring, but didn’t seem to help.

We had 4, 6’ white pines, and 2 Norway Spruce planted in May. They all looked very healthy. Lately 2 of the pines have been turning brown and dropping needles. One worse than the other. Our soil is clay, they brought in top soil for around the trees, and mounded it slightly. We also had hydro seed planted, shortly after the trees. We watered the lawn and trees daily (sometimes 3x daily on the very hot days). When we get a heavy rain water tends to sit around the 2 trees that are having issues. These are beautiful trees, what can we do to save them?

Is there an effective pine needle composting activity in the Klamath Basin that I can visit? #842424

At Train Mountain in Chiloquin we gather several tons of pine needles every year from over 30 miles of our model track. We no longer burn the needles and they are really piling up. We are looking at composting as a way to make the material useful as well as disposal. It is felt that talking to other local folks would give us guidance on how to proceed. I would be willing to travel a reasonable distance to visit. In addition the prospect of being able to add compost to our soil which is essentially pure volcanic ash might improve our water budget.

I have about 15 very mature (50++ yr old) white pines in my yard. One of them now exhibits adelgid over at least 50% of the limbs. It is spreading quickly. I have contacted Rainbow tree care. Their solution was Lepitect soil injection. I turned to various other extension websites - Iowa and Illinois, and they mentioned "spray supported by your local extension". I don't even see the adlegid referenced on your website. they also said I needed to remove all the flowers in the area. Do you have a recommendation for a treatment.
