Our pine trees have become so scrawny with dead needles at the bottom and inside of branches. We keep removing vines and we have use fertilizer spikes. What can be done to get them to fill out?

Question about possible causes of dead pine trees #889143

Hello, we have 6 large white pines on our property that appeared to have died. All of the needles have turned brown. We noticed this a couple of months ago, but I'm not sure when it happened. We've had tree removal services take a look. They've not been able to give us a cause, but confirmed that they are dead, so we're planning to have them removed. I'm looking for help in trying to determine the cause - in particular if other pines are at risk for the same fate and if so, what, if anything, could be done about it. I have attached a few pictures. The trees are in the middle of larger stand of trees. The other pines nearby seem ok. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thank you!

House foundation: Ants, plants, and mulch #888570

We have an ongoing, intermittent issue with rover ants in the wall at the front of the house. This is a foundation wall that goes into our basement. Aboveground, the main rooms are kitchen and two bathrooms. We have seen ants mostly in the kitchen and the basement areas. We have a pest control company that comes regularly to treat, seal cracks, etc. My questions are specifically in regards to the outdoor area along the foundation. We have hardwood mulch all along the foundation with some bushes and plants about 20-24" away from the house. The area closest to the house is very dry as it's under a roof overhang. Would eliminating the mulch along the foundation, replacing with rock mulch/gravel or paving stones, help keep the ants away from the house? How wide should this be? If the bark mulch is not a problem, should the plants be further away from the foundation? Is there something else that would help? I understand that I cannot eliminate the ants, but I would like to minimize the invasions and reduce the pesticides currently needed on a regular basis.

Seasonal Pine Needle Shedding #888471

Good morning! My yard has a mix of trees and about a dozen pine trees that shed toward Spring and again usually in September-October. Normal cycles? I've heard rake less leaves to let the leaves leave nutruients over the winter but still best to rake up fallen pine needles that rob the ground and lawn of water since pine needles "absorb" the water? (Usally I rake up about 3 tarps full full of pine needles.

Internal branch browning on white spruce and balsam fir #886414

we had 3 white spruce and 3 balsam fir planted this spring. they had been doing well. we water daily, then biweekly, then once a week, adjusting for rain fall. we recently noticed yellowing/browing of the internal branches, moving from the trunk outwards. External tips of the branches have not yellowed/browned yet. We see wolf spiders on the tree, and there were horizontal webbing (not spider) that we brushed off last month. ground is mulched with mulched trees from our property.

We keep having these insects come through the concrete cracks in our basement - some have wings and fly and some don't. The last picture is after I sprayed them with bathroom cleaner, so they're all dead. I thought these might be termites but I'm not sure. I have a video of them alive but it was too big to upload and send. I would very much appreciate your input on proper identification of these insects. Thank you so much
