Our pine trees have become so scrawny with dead needles at the bottom and inside of branches. We keep removing vines and we have use fertilizer spikes. What can be done to get them to fill out?

Seasonal Pine Needle Shedding #888471

Good morning! My yard has a mix of trees and about a dozen pine trees that shed toward Spring and again usually in September-October. Normal cycles? I've heard rake less leaves to let the leaves leave nutruients over the winter but still best to rake up fallen pine needles that rob the ground and lawn of water since pine needles "absorb" the water? (Usally I rake up about 3 tarps full full of pine needles.

Internal branch browning on white spruce and balsam fir #886414

we had 3 white spruce and 3 balsam fir planted this spring. they had been doing well. we water daily, then biweekly, then once a week, adjusting for rain fall. we recently noticed yellowing/browing of the internal branches, moving from the trunk outwards. External tips of the branches have not yellowed/browned yet. We see wolf spiders on the tree, and there were horizontal webbing (not spider) that we brushed off last month. ground is mulched with mulched trees from our property.

Can we turn manure that already has growth on it into compost? #859498

Hi, At our facility, we have a horse manure bin that rests on the top of an incline and historically, horse manure has been pushed down the side face of the hill to be mulched down over time but for the past couple of years, the volume is exceeding its ability to be mulched down and it's just starting to pile up. Blackberries and other natural growth have started taking it over and unless we dig it up with a tractor we are forced to just leave it where it is. We've been hoping to either remove it or turn it into compost. What would be recommended for us and how would we go about doing it? The manure is spread over approximately 1/3 acre of declined hill and our current manure bin is not set up to be composting as it piles, it's more of a storage space. Thanks!

unhealthy white pine #846110

We have a stressed white pine in our front yard on the shore of lake superior (see attached pictures). Planted as a seedling 15 to 20 years ago in gravely soil. I did just remove thimbleberry bushes around the base. What else can we do? Fertilize and water? what kind of fertilizer?
