Ariel Agenbroad

Area Extension Educator

I serve southwest Idaho as a University of Idaho (UI) Associate Professor/Extension Educator in community food systems, urban agriculture and small farms. My areas of specialization include urban and small farm vegetable production, direct marketing of agricultural products, organic production and gardening with youth. For eight years as a Horticulture Educator I coordinated and taught the Canyon County Master Gardeners, created the Idaho Victory Garden Series, a popular Extension program designed to help families produce more food at home, and started the Master Gardener School Garden Mentor program, which trains and certifies volunteers to support school garden projects statewide.

Since June 2015, my focus has turned to how food is grown, processed, transported and consumed in the greater Boise metropolitan area. I am excited to be working on issues related to hunger relief, beginning farmer education, Farmers’ Market development, small scale food processing, farm to school projects and community gardening.
