Elliot Nelson

Extension Educator

I am an extension educator with Michigan State University Extension. I work withing the Michigan Sea Grant program which works to promote economic vitality and environmental sustainability in Great Lakes coastal communities. I work specifically in the areas of Aquaculture, Nature Based Tourism, and K-12 Great Lakes education. If you have questions about Great Lakes fish hatcheries and aquaculture I'm happy to help. I work with assisting in sighting sustainable new facilities, navigating aquaculture regulations, and using aquaculture in the K-12 classroom. I also work extensively with the birding community and know a good amount about birds in the Great Lakes area. Sustainable nature based tourism is another focus of mine. Finally I work extensively in Great Lakes education in the classroom and help connect teachers to resources as well as provide programming in schools.
