Ben B.

Extension Educator

I currently serve as the Extension Educator for Agricultural Sciences with the University of Maryland Extension office in St. Mary’s County.  My main programming efforts include assisting growers with grain and tobacco production, vegetable production, farm management and alternative crop development. Most recently, I have been involved in the establishment of the Loveville Produce Auction, transition from MD type to Burley type tobacco production, and establishing the USDA/NIFA Beginning Farmer program in Maryland. I have current research projects in grape variety evaluation, blueberry cultivar evaluation, and soybean vein necrosis virus (SVNV) in soybean. I hold a BS degree in Agricultural Sciences and MS degree in Management and Marketing. I grew up on a tobacco and vegetable farm in Southern Maryland and enjoy working on the family farm in my spare time.
