H. Gmazel

Government & Community Vitality Educator

Harmony Gmazel, AICP, is an Extension Educator and the Leader of the MSUE Land Use Team. She is a longtime partner with MSU's Urban Collaborators program and a regular guest lecturer at Michigan State University's School of Planning, Design and Construction. She is recognized statewide as an expert in Extension’s Land Use and Leadership/Civic Engagement programming, providing ongoing guidance to DDAs, Planning Commissions, county agencies and more across Michigan. Gmazel has over 16 years of community-based engagement, urban and regional planning, grant management, partnership building and civic leadership experience. She is a certified instructor for the National Charrette Institute at MSU and serves as Chair of Michigan Association of Planning's Social Equity Committee. Gmazel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on Historic Preservation and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, both from Michigan State University.
