I am a researcher and extension specialist in the Department of Horticultural Science at NC State University. My staff and I are located at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center in western North Carolina. The objective of our program is to help farmers improve the sustainability and profitability of their farms. We do this by conducting research and providing education on vegetables and new crops, such as hops, truffles, native woodland plants, medicinal herbs, and sustainable and organic farming. I am also the co-author of "Growing & Marketing Ginseng, Goldenseal and Other Woodland Medicinals", a public speaker, and the co-owner of Our Tiny Farm.
