i would like to stack up a lot of wood at my home for burning it in the fireplace. am i allowed to cut/chop small trees without a permit? does going outside of city limits make a difference? and is there a limit on how much i am allowed to chop ?

Yes you are allowed to cut trees in your property for firewood without a permit unless you are selling the wood. However, remember that if you are in a forestland tract (for tax purposes) you are required to replant the trees and are governed by the Forest Practices Act. Unfortunately, I am unsure about the City, you might want to check if your City has some specific requirements about landscaping/trees.

Hope this is of help.
