Green Driving Education (aka Eco Driving)

Asked November 20, 2020, 3:29 PM EST

I am Wayne Michaud, executive director of Green Driving America Inc., a Sacramento County, CA based 501c3 non-profit organization that is showing drivers the cost, environmental, health and safety benefits in how we drive (green driving methods) and what we drive (promotion of PHEVs and EVs). We specialize in working with high school environmental educators and driver educators to offer drivers-to-be and new drivers a green driving supplement (one-time guest-lecturing classroom sessions conducted via video conferencing) in their curricula. This initiative will operate in several states, funded by grantmakers. Please visit the greendrivingamerica.org website for details.

Questions: How can I reach Oregon high school environmental educators to propose our initiative? Is there a listing of teachers that have an environmental education specialty for certain schools/school districts?

Thank you.

Hello Wayne,

I have several suggestions but not an exact answer to how you can get a list of Oregon high school environmental educators. I hope the ideas for contacts will help you find what you are looking for.

Oregon Green Schools promotes Environmental Education with Oregon Schools. They may have a list of high school teachers they would share with you. https://oregongreenschools.org/

You could also try the Oregon Science Teachers Association https://www.oregonscience.org/Contact-OSTA The website has ways to connect with all teachers who are involved with the Association.

Oregon Natural Resource Education Program (ONREP)- offers workshops to teachers and community educators - may have a created a list http://onrep.forestry.oregonstate.edu/

Another suggestion would be to send information to the Environmental Educators Association of Oregon. http://www.eeao.org/ They have a newsletter and connections to teachers across Oregon.

Also I have included the Oregon Teachers school directory - it is searchable. May be helpful. https://www.oregon.gov/ode/about-us/Pages/School-Directory.aspx

An additional resource might be the Oregon Environmental Literacy Program https://oelp.oregonstate.edu/ . I am affiliated with this program but I am not aware we have a list like what you are looking for. There may be a contact that can help you.

I hope this will be helpful to you and best of luck with your project,

Maggie
