Fertilizing houseplants with fishtank water

Asked October 23, 2020, 3:52 PM EDT

Hi there! So, this is a totally random question. Can i water my house plants with water from my fishtank when it needs changing? Its a freshwater tank (beta fish). I figured maybe this is a good way to fertilize the plants with fishy poo and pee. But, I don't want to harm the plants. I have a monstera, pilea, arrowhead plant and an orchid. Thanks so much!

I don't really see a problem with 'recycling' the water as you suggest. I'm not sure the level of fertilization would be all that high but I usually dilute my fertilize to 1/3 or 1/4 from the recommended strength.
