Compost without grass or leaves?

Asked October 18, 2020, 1:16 AM EDT

Hi... I just read the suggestion of making compost with iPhone-third each of coffee grounds, leaves, and grass clippings. But, I live in a desert, so leaves are rare, and grass clippings are unheard of for the most part. What else could be used instead? Thanks. James

Thank you for your question, James. Here is a good Extension article about composting in your state: https://extension.arizona.edu/sites/extension.arizona.edu/files/pubs/az1632-2014.pdf

You can substitute kitchen scraps, pruned leaves, etc., from houseplants and shredded paper. Hope this is helpful. Good luck!
