Silver Maple Tree

Asked October 8, 2020, 10:53 AM EDT

The silver maple in our yard has iron deficiency. ( leaves are yellowing on half the tree ). Does treating the tree with iron injections by a tree company really work? I've read it takes years to show the deficiency and years of treatment to bring it back healthy. If it does work does the treatment need to continue for the life of the tree? How frequent for the treatment ( once or twice a year? )

To find the most appropriate individual to answer your question, what county in Colorado do you reside? Thanks! Ruth

We live in Adams county. City of Nothglenn.

I had posted a questions on if using iron injections on a silver maple that is iron deficient would help turn the tree healthy again? Also: if so what would the frequency be ( once or twice a year ) and would it be for the life of the tree?

Trunk injections, holes drilled in trunk, may be best left to a certified arborist. For foliage application, you may want to read this article first:

There are some pictures and symptoms for iron chlorosis that you may want to review to be sure that it is iron deficiency. If you are unsure of the diagnosis, it would be helpful to have some pictures from a distance showing the entire tree, a closer picture showing the trunk and finally a close up of one of the leaves.
