Cabbage worms are eating our cabbage & kale

Asked September 28, 2020, 1:00 PM EDT

How do I get rid of them organically? I pick the caterpillars off but I am losing the battle. This garden is a free standing box garden at the Winston-Salem Street School. We pulled up all the plants that are beyond hope. Can we amend the soil with an organic deterrent and plant again? What are your thoughts on spreading spent coffee grounds? We also spotted a slug and a few stink bugs.

Cabbageworms are best controlled with Dipel (BT), this is an organic, non toxic way to get rid of caterpillars. It comes in a dust and liquid form. There are organic slug baits that can be purchased. I have heard of people using wood ashes on top of the ground to deter slugs but I am not sure that would really work.
