planting hosta in an established bed of english ivy

I have a thick bed of english ivy established under a huge pine tree...can I add hosta plants to this ground cover bed or will the hosta not be able to flourish there....thanks so much you guys are THE BEST!!!!!

English Ivy is so aggressive (and invasive) that we do not foresee any perennial thriving and succeeding in an established bed of it. Ideally, we'd recommend removing the Ivy entirely and using an alternative non-invasive groundcover, but if you are not amendable or prepared to do so, another location for the Hostas would be better.
