Fall Care for Dianthus

Asked September 23, 2020, 10:08 AM EDT

I am just starting to put perennials in my beds. This is the first year I've planted Dianthus in beds facing north. I'm trying to figure out if I should cut these back for the winter or leave them as they are and cut back in the spring. I'm getting both responses in my research. Thanks, Linda

I think its good to cut them on a case by case basis after bloom time. And really both options are ok. I think it is good to experiment and see how your plants respond.
