Cutting down a healthy dogwood tree.

Asked September 22, 2020, 7:51 PM EDT

I was asked by a friend to cut down a dogwood tree that is in her yard. Though it has some dead branches, most of the branches are fully leafed. Is there a law against cutting down a health dogwood tree in Maryland?

We are not aware of a specific law regarding cutting down a healthy dogwood.
However, in some counties, if the trees are located in a critical area near the bay, there may be rules and regulations. You may want to contact your County for more information on your situation. http://www.harfordcountymd.gov/Faq.aspx?QID=308
Also, some homeowners associations may have regulations and you may want to contact them.
