Cutting down a healthy dogwood tree.

Asked September 22, 2020, 7:51 PM EDT

I was asked by a friend to cut down a dogwood tree that is in her yard. Though it has some dead branches, most of the branches are fully leafed. Is there a law against cutting down a health dogwood tree in Maryland?

We are not aware of a specific law regarding cutting down a healthy dogwood.
However, in some counties, if the trees are located in a critical area near the bay, there may be rules and regulations. You may want to contact your County for more information on your situation.
Also, some homeowners associations may have regulations and you may want to contact them.
