Chipmunks and squirrels

How do you stop/prevent chipmunks and squirrels from eating your tomatoes?

That is a tough one! Sorry you are having problems.

Squirrels are inquisitive, persistent and agile climbers, jumpers and chewers so unfortunately, an "all the above" type response may be required.

Here are some things that may help:

Chicken wire or netting over and around your plants. This is easier with smaller, determinant plants.
Feeding them peanuts, corn or other treats away from your garden
Provide water such as in a bird bath - perhaps squirrels are eating fruit for their water content.
Pick your tomatoes when they are showing their first blush of color and allow them to ripen safely on your counter at room temperature.
You can try wrapping individual tomatoes in nylon stocking or mesh, but that sounds like a lot of work!

I wish you the best and hope you find something that works!
