Hello,
Unfortunately, it sounds like your leaves have been attacked by Japanese beetles. Hibiscus is a favorite of theirs. Below is an article about Japanese beetles and suggestions about how to control them. One of the easiest methods is to go out in the evening when the adults are around with a jar of soapy water and knock the sleeping adults into the jar. There are probably few adults around at this time of year but it is something to think about for next year.

I hope this helps you control your Japanese beetles. Thank you for contacting Ask an Expert.
