Áster Confusion

Hi , I have this Aster that someone said was the straight species novae angliea. But this aster doesn’t look the same as novae angliea. It’s more blue and doesn’t branch. I really like this aster as well. Can you identify this particular aster. Thanks experts!

We agree that this does not look like New England aster (S. novae-angliae). Aster identification is notoriously challenging, giving the number of species (and variability even within a species) as well as cultivars. That said, based on the floral and leaf characteristics we can see in your photo, this one appears to most closely resemble New York aster (Symphyotrichum novi-belgii).
