I'd Like To Identify This Grass

Asked September 12, 2020, 12:26 PM EDT

Some of the areas in my yard that were not over-run this Summer by bermudagrass were I had assumed to be Fescue. Decent looking grass, deep green, nice. But just this week some of these same areas have begun sprouting small spherical buds or seedpods, about the size of a green pea. I'd like to identify this grass. Best as I am aware, Fescue will not produce seedpods...or am I wrong?

This looks like green kyllinga, a perennial weed in the sedge family. Here is our web page and how to manage it in a lawn https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/green-kyllinga
