A difficult weed in my lawn

Hello,
The weed in the picture is Wood Sorrel (Oxalis stricta). Wood sorrel, a weed of turf grass, thrives on nutrient-rich, moist soils but also shows up in drought-like areas. Small amounts can easily be hand-pulled but when larger amounts exist, chemicals may be resorted to. Attached is an article about wood sorrel.

Once removed, prevent infestation by promoting healthy lawn grass with a regular watering and fertilizing program and setting the lawn mower at 3 ½ inches high. Attached is an article on summer lawn care.

I hope this helps you solve the problem.
Thank you for contacting Ask an Expert.
Thank you very much Sue for identifying the wood sorrel. I spot treated it with Weed B Gone yesterday and it is fading away already.
Be healthy!
You are welcome.
