deformed apples

Asked September 8, 2020, 5:31 PM EDT

My Honeycrisp apples are all deformed with some brown spots and streaks inside. Is this apple maggot? This year it in only on my 2 Honeycrisp trees. Two Zestar trees do not have the problem. One Haralred has minimal deformity. Could this affect all of the trees next year? What do recommend? Thanks, Jim Roelofs Photo attached.

Yes, apple maggot. They will spread to your other trees next year. The pupae overwinter in the ground, so you can reduce their numbers with good sanitation. But if you want clean fruit, you will have to spray or bag. Read here:
