This plant is called moneywort (Lysumachia nummularia) or perhaps more commonly it is called creeping Jenny. This is an introduced perennial species in Michigan and was likely introduced to your area as an ornamental. It can spread both by creeping aboveground stems (i.e. stolons) and seed.

Mechanical removal can help combat this plant as it is shallowly rooted. Herbicides can also be effective, but the exact product may depend on the exact location and desirable species in the area.
