Brown leaves by berry cluster

Asked August 24, 2020, 10:30 AM EDT

Why are leaves brown near some, but not all, berry clusters? Photo attached. I don't recall this happening in prior years. I believe the tree is a mountain ash, but I'm not certain.

We can't diagnose the problem by viewing the photos. However, based upon what we can see, the tips of some branches appear to have been damaged by fire blight.

If you want to confirm or rule out the presence of fire blight, submit samples of the affected branches to the University of Minnesota Plant Disease Clinic.
